Manorama
Director of the School of Sanskrit Studies in New York City, Manorama leads workshops on the Path of Luminous Shabda, a path that combines Sanskrit, meditation, and yoga philosophy.
Her mix of earthy charm, deep scholarship, and humorous teaching style are born from years of close study with her Guru, Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati (Rammurti S. Mishra, M.D.), the founder of Ananda Ashram and author of The Textbook of Yoga Psychology and The Fundamentals of Yoga.
A graduate of Columbia University, Manorama continues her studies in Sanskrit, working closely with R.K. Sharma, president of the International Association of Sanskrit Studies. “Sanskrit is the living language of yoga and mantra. It is a language of awareness and pranic intention. Sanskrit linguistically and vibrationally expresses our deepest core. The elegant sounds of Sanskrit gently coax our hearts to soar to their highest potential, the luminous whole that we all are,” she says.
Manorama teaches at Ananda Ashram, Jivamukti Yoga, Integral Yoga Institute, Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, and Laughing Lotus Yoga, and leads workshops nationally and internationally.
