David Nichtern
David Nichtern is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and Pema Chödrön. He is currently dean of Buddhist studies and practice for OM yoga. He has served as director of Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont and director of Expansion for Shambhala Training International.
A Grammy- and Emmy Award-winning musician, Nichtern wrote the classic song “Midnight at the Oasis” and is founder of Dharma Moon Records, 5 Points Records, and the world fusion band Drala. He is a highly regarded producer, guitarist, and composer for film, television, and records.
Nichtern and his wife, Cyndi Lee (founder of OM yoga), currently live in New York City. They lead yoga and meditation retreats worldwide and are cocreators of the OM Yoga & Meditation Workshop DVD.
