Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Texas singer/songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore creates a unique style of music—labeled "progressive alternative country"—that blends a lifelong interest in esoteric philosophy, literature, psychology, and spirituality with elements of country, folk, pop, blues, and rock music. Two of his CDs, Spinning Around the Sun and Braver New World, received Grammy nominations in the category of Contemporary Folk Music. The Rolling Stone Critics' Poll named him the Country Artist of the Year for two straight years. Gilmore's CD One Endless Night, released in 2000, is, in his description, a musical self-portrait. He continues to perform occasionally with his band, Flatlanders. |
