Do you notice compulsive patterns in yourself or others? Do you feel helpless over these patterns? This helplessness is the doorway to healing.

Addictive patterns live in the body and the mind. Therapy, 12-step groups, and self-help workshops give us the opportunity to cognitively resolve the events of our past, but they give little attention to the corresponding tensions in the physical body.

Cheryl Champagne assists us in releasing the experiences stored in the physical body, while freeing the mind. Through asana, meditation, and pranayama (breathing techniques), we investigate areas of tightness and tension, allowing for the gentle release of that which no longer serves us.

In a rich, supportive, and powerful learning environment, we experience compassion, awareness, change, and healing. Those at any skill level in yoga, professionals and laypeople alike, are invited. Participants are encouraged to bring those supporting them in their recovery.

Participants will be able to:
  • Describe how addictive patterns live in the body as well as the mind.
  • Employ yoga techniques to augment psychotherapy, 12-step groups, and self-help workshops in treatment of addiction.
  • Identify the tensions in the physical body that correspond to the events of our past which may underlie addictive behavior
  • Demonstrate techniques for releasing the experiences stored in the physical body, while freeing the mind.
  • Utilize asana, meditation, and pranayama (breathing techniques) to investigate areas of tightness and tension, allowing for the gentle release of that which no longer serves us.
Bring a journal.
